The Zaphir Chimes have been well-known for more than 30 years, and are much appreciated for their crystalline sounds, glowing colors, and quality. The instrument is created with 8 metal cords of varying lengths, formed together and held with a metal ring. The cords are then tuned and voila!… they chime a most magical play of harmonies and overtones, perfect for accompanying the crystal alchemy singing bowls. Easy and delightful to play, these musical instruments are often used for relaxation and healing sessions, yoga / meditation, music-therapy, perinatal care, as well as in educational work with children and adults.

Many times people will ask me what the special sounds are at the end of a sound bath. {normally their eyes are closed so they can not see the colorful instruments.} I have been told they remind people of their childhood, of the innocence of waiting for the ice cream man or the sounds of angels.

Each instrument has 8 metal cords of different lengths, welded with silver into a metal ring, inside of a colorful tube made from pressed recycled cardboard. Upon assembly, the cords are again carefully tuned to refine the interaction of tones and overtones into a continuous flow of harmonies. The proportions of the resonance-tube coincides with the 'Golden Ratio' principles of Da Vinci, thus assuring optimal sound and resonance.

Thin crushed and pressed layers of long fiber celluloid board create the perfect acoustic qualities for the warm timbre and crystalline sounds Zaphir Chimes are known for. Most of the materials used are natural, recyclable and of EEG origin / standards. The protective layers of varnish, and paint of the resonance-tube are ecological. The wooden parts are wax coated.

Each of the 5 tunings are delivered in glowing colors, obtained by a specific marble technique of "oil-paint on water," giving the chime it's unique design.
